  1. Aims and Objectives of Mandi Saksharta Evum Jan Vikas Samiti
    • To undertake mass awareness campaign for literacy, Education, Health, Sanitation, Environment and peoples development in Distt. Mandi of Himachal Pradesh
    • To work for creating awareness about National Unity , Social Justice, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, Democracy, Secularism and Socialism through print and electronic media in District Mandi of Himachal Pradesh.
    • To organize training programmes, camps and seminars for the social and economic betterment of the people.
    • To collaborate with Governmental and non-governmental agencies, elected representatives, trade unions, social workers, students,  youth,   mass and community based organizations to pool the available resources for the purpose of peoples empowerment especially women, SC/ST, OBC, minorities and other poor and weaker sections of the Society.
    • To prepare and publish books and periodicals for neo-literates and literates to disseminate information to the people at the grass root level.
    • To undertake and conduct fresh surveys where needed for collection of information and data on problems affecting social & economic development.
    • To conceive, formulate and undertake implementation of different schemes especially those with mass awareness content and affecting social and economic development of the people.
    • To provide facilities & act as forum for exchange of information’s, ideas and experience in developmental activities and research.
    • To implement self- employment schemes in collaboration with Govt. and Non Govt. Sector.
    • To work for the development and progress of the people.
    • To work for the improvement of health services.
    • To help the handicapped and disabled people.
    • To organize the activities for the welfare of weaker section i.e. SC/ST, OBC, minorities & women.
    • To provide training and others support to self help groups (SHGs), community based organizations (CBOs) and others interested individuals for production and marketing.
    • To develop the talents of weaker section of the Society especially women.
    • To provide educational facilities and certification upto pre-school, school and college level.
    • To give training to use appropriate technologies in the day to day life of the people.
    • To work to make government schemes accesible to the poorest of the poor’s.
    • To implement watershed and Panchyat development programmes.
    • To establish Computer& Information Technology Centers in rural area.
    • To promote small saving, Banking and Insurance activities in District Mandi with the help of Govt. & Public Sector.
    • To work for popularization of science and creating scientific temper in the society.
    • To work for conservation of environment, land, water, forest and other natural resources and IEC.
    • To work for the awareness of constitutional rights and duties, legal rights, consumer rights etc.
    • To work for the up gradations of Science and Technology in rural and backward area.
    • To conduct the research activities in the area of education, health, technology, environment and development etc.
    • To improve the health of mothers and children and also work for protection of children.
    • To receive contributions, donations & charities from any person, firm, corporation, local body, Govt., and non Govt. organizations for the strengthening of the Samiti.
    • All income of the Samiti shall be utilized towards the promotion of the aims and objectives of the Samiti.
    • To institute and award fellowship, diplomas and certificates etc, for the furtherance of the objectives of the Samiti.
    • The Samiti will not discriminate against any person or group of persons on the basis of Language, Region, Caste, Creed, and Sex & Religion.
    • To receive loan and grant from any Bank,Govt. Deptt., Corporation, Institution and local body etc. to strengthen the activities of Samiti.To form producer organization, Federation, Kisan Club, SHGs and among the other CBOs and New Literates.

9.Background

The All India Peoples Science Network (AIPSN) organized a “Jan Vigyan Jatha” activity in the year 1987 and Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti (BGVS) organized a Gyan Vigyan Jatha on the eve of International Literacy Year-1990.  These jathas visited Mandi District of Himachal Pradesh and sensitized the local youth, intellectuals and socially committed activists. Mandi Saksharta Samitit/ Mandi Saksharta Evum Jan Vikas Samiti  was formed and registered under Societies Act of 1860 in Feb.1992 by these sensitized activists of  BGVS belongs to District Mandi.  The Samiti successfully implemented many projects and organized various activities upto village level with community involvement and participation

  • National Literacy Resource Centre of Lal Bhadur Shastri Institute of Public Administration Mussoorie conducted “ Impact Study” of Literacy movement in
  • Media Resource Group of Delhi conducted external evaluation of TLC, PLC     Chandigarh conducted the external evolution of Continuing Education Programme on behalf of National Literacy Mission Authority.
  • Rattan Tata Trust Bombay Has also conducts a study on impact of literacy and coordinated effort made by samiti.
  • BILL Milinda Gats Foundation Washington’s CEO has also seen the activities of samiti .
  • Department of Education Govt. of H.P. awarded State Level 2nd Award to Samiti in the year 1998.
  • National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).H.P. awarded 1st position to Samiti so many time  for best performance in SHG formation and linkage.
  • Life Insurance Corporationof India ( LIC) awarded to Samiti First Position in the All India Ranking on First Premium Income (FPI) basis by earning an FPI during the financial year 2018-19 and  position in All India Ranking on MI/NB policy basis.
